I can't quite believe the Lauren Catris brand has reached 10 YEARS! Where has the time gone?!
It's been one helluva journey, and I'll be honest with you, it hasn't been an easy one. Far from it.
But, I'm glad I didn't give up when all those times felt like I should. No matter how many times I'd hit rock bottom, something positive would happen, as if it was a sign from something bigger telling me to keep going.
I've always known I was put on this earth to be creative, but sometimes our doubts and insecurities' voice shouts louder than that knowing. Is it self sabotage? Our comfort zone? Whatever it is, these 10 years have taught me to fight past them. Push yourself out of that comfort zone, no matter how anxiety inducing it can be, because believe me, it really is where the magic happens.
January 2020, I came the closest I've ever been to putting a pause on it all for a more 'stable' life after such a disheartening Christmas.
One evening I did an ink study of an old photograph of my Nanny Shirl who I love and miss so much. It was after sharing it on social media that the commissions came in, and continue to do so. Showing you all the other strings to my creative bow is what saved me from the mental rut I found myself in, and has since become a big part of my brand.
Combining my Fine Art and portraiture background with my brand of luxury silk accessories has been the silky icing on the cake. It encapsulates what my brand has always been about, but hadn't quite been able to portray. Our style becomes a part of our story which in turn becomes ours and our loved ones sentiment. It's all art.
Entering my 11th year, I am taking with me international orders, so many commissions and bespoke accessories, collections for the Royal Opera House and Gaziano & Girling on Savile Row, solo business trips to Florence, amazing loyal supporters, and a new sense of self. Never have I been more positive for what the future holds, and what I am capable of.
🎉 Here's to the next 10 years!
🎉
Thank you to those that have and continue to support me, and if you're new here, I hope you enjoy coming along with me on this creative way of life. ✨
