Porto Tile.

After my lovely trip to Porto a few months ago, I couldn't help but be inspired by the beautiful tiles that adorned the characteristic buildings.

As I opened my balcony window, there they were. Hundreds of blue and white tiles, greeting me every morning. Along with the balcony itself, I was in my element.

So I thought I'd create my own take on these little, and large, ceramic works of art. Using photographs I had taken, along with the many postcards I had bought, I drew my own Porto pattern. I began by taking my favourite aspects of each design, and sketching my own composition. With this kind of aesthetic, I just like to go with the flow. See where the lines and shapes take me.

Happy with the final drawing, it was time to play around with colours, and create the final motif.

And it made for a satisfying repeat pattern!

And a satisfying silk pocket square.

Each one is digitally printed onto pure silk twill, and hand finished here in the U.K. The complimentary bold colours of blue and orange, along with the crisp white, make it another classic accessory. In particular, for those navy suits of yours, gents.

And ladies, don't forget they can be used as hair ties too! Partner one with your favourite white summer dress, and you may as well be strolling around those European cobbled streets.
